Taxi Industry Assistance Packages
Following the independent review and reforms to the Taxi and Chauffeur Industry in South Australia the Government are delivering assistance packages to taxi licence holders to help offset any impacts of the new regulatory framework. Applications for the assistance packages are open to owners and lessees of taxi licences as at 12 April 2016. Eligible taxi licence holders are able to apply for an assistance package of $30,000 per taxi licence and lessees are eligible for $50 a week payments for the remainder of their lease for a maximum of 11 months.
Who is eligible to apply?
Owners of metropolitan taxi licences and taxi licence lessees as at 12 April 2016 are eligible to apply for the industry assistance packages.
Who is not eligible to apply?
Assistance packages are not provided to Access, country or standby taxi plates.
How much are assistance packages?
For owners of taxi licences on 12 April 2016, assistance packages are valued at $30,000. Lessees of taxi licences on the same date are eligible for $50 a week assistance payments for the remainder of their lease for a maximum of 11 months. These will be provided as one-off lump sum payments.
How do you apply?
Applications can be accessed via www.dpti.sa.gov.au/TaxiHireCarReview. Please complete the required fields on this form and attach the relevant documentation for assessment.
Completed applications and copies of required documents can either be emailed to DPTI.P2PReforms@sa.gov.au, or posted to GPO Box 1533, ADELAIDE 5001. Further details on applications will be sent to eligible licence holders and lessees.
When do applications close?
Applications will be open for six months from 22 May 2017 to 30 November 2017. To ensure licence owners and lessees get their industry assistance package they must apply during this six month period before applications close. Applications for assistance packages will not be accepted beyond the closing date.
When will industry assistance packages be paid?
Once completed applications have been received by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, assessment of each application will commence. Payment will be authorised at the completion of the assessment.
